Marcelo Spina is an Argentinean-American architect and educator. He co-founded Los Angeles–based Patterns with Georgina Huljich, establishing the office as an internationally recognized platform for contemporary design culture. Through a body of work that spans cultural, civic, and private projects, Patterns has gained distinction for advancing architectural form and material expression across scales and geographies. Spina is a Professor at SCI-Arc and has also taught at Yale, Penn, Harvard GSD, and the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires. His work has been widely published, exhibited, and honored with awards including Emerging Voices, the United States Artist Fellowship, and a Graham Foundation grant for the recently co-authored book Mute Icons: And Other Dichotomies of the Real in Architecture.
